Kelly Overstreet Johnson recently transitioned from a 40-year litigation, mediation and arbitration practice to a full-time alternative dispute resolution practice with Overstreet Johnson Mediation & Arbitration, LLC. Ms. Johnson has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit-Civil mediator since 2007 and is a Florida Supreme Court qualified arbitrator where she handles both non-binding and binding arbitrations. She serves as a panelist for the American Arbitration Association on the commercial, large complex, consumer and employment panels.
Ms. Johnson has a multi-jurisdictional practice and offers both in-person and virtual mediations and arbitrations. She is well known for her interpersonal skills and persistence in successfully resolving cases which she mediates. Her past litigation and mediation experience is wide-ranging and included business and commercial; general civil; tort; probate and estate; class actions; premises liability; real estate and a broad range of employment matters. Examples include breach of contract, non-competition agreements, hospital privileges; claims for deceptive and unfair trade practices; fiduciary litigation involving undue influence; employment-related matters in state and federal court; real estate litigation, wrongful death; breach of guaranty agreements; fraud in the inducement; legal and medical malpractice; false arrest; trademark infringement; invasion of privacy; false light, defamation, nursing home litigation; and False Claims Act claims involving Medicaid reimbursement.
She is a Past President of The Florida Bar, the third woman elected; and was the first woman elected President of the Tallahassee Bar Association; and is a past President of the Tallahassee Women Lawyers. Ms. Johnson is AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and repeatedly named as a Florida Super Lawyer or Legal Elite. Immediately prior to becoming a full-time mediator and arbitrator, Ms. Johnson opened and managed the Tallahassee office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz for eight years.
